Brian J. Glass

Passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2014, at age 57. He is predeceased by his father, Ralph Glass and his father-in-law, Del Hambley. He is survived by his wife, Colleen (Hambley) Glass; daughter, Nina Fairbanks Glass; mother, Mildred Glass; brothers, Joel Glass, Kevin Glass; sisters, Kristy (Ted Lott) Glass, Jenifer (Matt) Werdon; mother-in-law, Shirley Hambley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Teri Hambley, Keith and Sharon Crowell; nephews, Miles and Vaughn Werdon, Tyler (Crystal) Hambley, Jacob and Jonathan Crowell, Parker and Sawyer Hambley; nieces, Audrey Lott, Brieanna (Andrew) Claassen, Regan and Deidre Crowell and many dear friends. Brian was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI, graduating from Grand Rapids Christian High School in 1974. He earned a degree in biology from Calvin College in 1978 and a degree in biology in 1983 from Grand Valley State University. Fun-loving and hard-working, Brian enjoyed his career as an analytical chemist as well as his time with family and friends. He was fond of interacting with his "dog kids", working outdoors and anything to do with airplaines and flying. He also loved science, reading, writing and music. Brian was a devoted and faithful husband to Colleen, his wife of 20 years. A committed Christian, he was passionate about sharing his faith with others and found joy in doing mission work. He quietly and compassionately assisted those in need in a variety of ways. A momentous time in his life happened three years ago when he and Colleen became parents to their precious eight-year-old daughter, Nina. She stole his heart and he adored her. The family will receive friends in the Portage Free Methodist Church, 1715 West Centre, Portage, MI 49024 on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 1 PM. A celebration of Brian's life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 2 PM in the Portage Free Methodist Church. Interment Private.
